Productivity tools are those which students use to produce standards based content.  In addition to helping students produce content based products, the use of these tools also help students to accomplish the National Education Technology Standards (NETS) with primary emphasis on standard three.  Standard three of NETS states:

• Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity.

• Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, prepare publications, and produce other creative works.
