The Pilgrim Life Adventure

Introduction

On Thanksgiving, we always seem to hear about Pilgrims. Do you know who the Pilgrims were? Do you know where they came from? Why did they come to America on the Mayflower?

What would it be like to travel across the ocean to a new land? What would it be like to be a Pilgrim?

Where would you go? How would you travel? What would you be able to take along with you?

Tasks

Task 1 Create a family tree to find out about your ancestors.

Task 2 Create a journal to keep the new information you are learning about the Pilgrims in. Keep this in a safe place so you can write or draw in it every day.

Task 3 Complete a Venn Diagram showing how your life and the Pilgrim's life are the same or different.

Task 4 Create a vehicle of your own to travel in.

Task 5 Create a play about your life adventure with your group.

Task 6 Print out the rubrics for your vehicle, Venn Diagram, teamwork in your life adventure group and grade yourself.

Evaluation

• You will be using a Venn Diagram rubric for your grading. You will be filling out a rubric on your Venn Diagram and you will also be rating your classmates' Venn Diagram according to the rubric. You will have a chance to give positive comments and suggestions to others.
  
• Your vehicle will be graded on your creativity in creating a vehicle to travel in. Print out the vehicle rubric and score your vehicle that you created.
  
• You will also be graded for your part in the play. This will be a participation and teamwork grade. Print out the teamwork rubric and score your participation within the group and score your group's teamwork
  

 

Conclusion

When you are finished, you will have a better understanding of Pilgrim life. You will have learned about their life, clothes, chores, food, and adventure. You will also have created a vehicle for your own life adventure. You are all Pilgrims! Are you ready to go on an adventure now?
