Your students are about to visit the dark and mysterious depths of Monterey Submarine Canyon. This multimedia presentation leads them through the first expedition into the Midwater Zone of Monterey Bay in California. The dynamics of the expedition, the people involved, and the unique characteristics of the sea life found in this region ocean, make it an ideal supplement to any oceanography unit.
It can be utilized by Elementary or Middle School students, who speak/understand either English or Spanish. The presentation has been designed so students can easily switch between the English and Spanish sections. This can help students build language skills. Additionally, students can read about each slide, listen to the desciption of each slide (see the Real Audio instructions), or both, in either language.
A set of questions (see below) for each level and language have been designed to accompany it. There is a vocabulary list in both English and Spanish that can be used for either level.
