Grabbing Graphics

A mere six years ago, there were essentially no graphics on the internet. If you were among the few reading information on the net, you were gazing at page after page of plain text. No wonder the internet was only of interest to scholars, scientists and hackers!

In 1994, though, everything changed when the first graphic-capable browser ---Mosaic--- was released. In a matter of a few months, the web took off on the wild path of popularity that is still exploding today. Graphics made all the difference.

There are so many sites with free graphics available that there's no reason not to grab a few to enhance the pages you create.

Here's how to go about it.

1. First, go to the page that you'd like to grab a graphic from.

Move your cursor over the graphic you desire and hold the mouse button down (or, if you're using Windows, right-click the mouse button).

2. A menu will pop-up over the graphic.

Move the mouse up one notch and select

Save this Image as...

3. If it doesn't already come with a good name, give the graphic a name that contains no spaces or unusual punctuation and ends with .gif or .jpg.

Click on the Desktop button to save the graphic there, or click your way down into whatever folder you're project is in.

Hit Save and you're done!
