Using Claris Home Page Tutorial

Changing the Text Style

Manipulating the size and color of text will aid you in designing an online document that is easy to navigate and comprehend. If you have created web pages before you should be familiar with heading style, if you decide to use headings, please note that Claris Home Page misrepresents the actual size. You must preview your document to be sure they are the size you want. These instructions do not utilize the headings style at all (nor do any of the Summer Symposium templates), the ease of formatting regular text makes the use of headings optional. The same effects are easily replicated. Make sure that the Paragraph Format window always reads Normal.

The Activities

Changing the color (globally)

1. To change the color of all your text, first find the Document Options button on the Claris menu bar.

2. Click and hold on the colored box next to Text. A color palette will appear. Now you can select a color or move down to Other for a custom color.

Changing the color of a word/sentence

1. Select the word/sentence you wish to change and click and hold on the button. A color palette will appear, select your color or go to Other for a custom color.

Changing the size

1. To change the size of your text, select on the Claris tool bar either to decrease the size or to increase the size.

Please Note: While using the WebQuest templates you should only use these tools to increase or decrease the size of your text, using heading styles will give you an inaccurate representation in Claris (see the statement at the top of this page).
