Pre Symposium Planning

Before you come to the 1999 Triton and Patterns Summer
Symposium, please review these sites.
1. Project
selection: Covers four filters that will aid you in
selecting your new project idea.
The WebQuest project should:
- be tied to local, state or national curriculum
standards;
- replace a lesson that you've not totally satisfied
with;
- make good use of the Web;
- require a degree of understanding that goes beyond
mere comprehension.
2. Project
Idea Proposal Form: A form for submitting your idea for
a new WebQuest.

3. A
Taxonomy of WebQuest Tasks: Twelve types of tasks that
focus on what learners will do.
- Compilation - ask what is essential? how are things
related?
- Retelling - build background knowledge
- Mystery Solving - synthesize and analyze
- Journalistic Report - look at bias
- Design - develop a real-world solution or
product
- Creative Product - create or artistically
express
- Consensus Building - understand different points of
view
- Persuasion - focus on a particular audience
- Self-Knowledge - sharpen goals, values
- Analytical - speculate or infer as to the meaning of
similarities or differences
- Judgment - develop criteria for evaluation
- Scientific - collect data to support an
hypothesis
4. Task
